TCC – large spans and low susceptibility to vibration

The first timber-concrete composites (TCC) were classified for the first time in the 1930s, as no steel rods existed. Today, TCC ceiling systems are becoming increasingly popular as they allow larger spans with lower vibrations compared to wooden ceilings. In addition, the non-combustible concrete barrier between multi-storey buildings increases fire resistance. In order to promote the principles of the circular economy in buildings and in construction, Derikvand and Fink (2022) pointed out that TCC floor systems, including CLT panels, can be dismantled and reused if the wood-concrete screws are covered with a heat-shrink tubing layer.

Currently, we offer two TCC screws - 7.3 × 150 mm and 9 × 180 mm - which, according to laboratory tests at KIT, have a shear load of up to 2 tons per screw. There is an ETA for the fasteners. The screws should ideally be inserted at a 45° angle to increase the stiffness and strength for the composite effect, as well as in terms of speed and cost. Wood-concrete composite ceilings were used in Dornbirn, Austria, for example, for the construction of an eight-storey office building, which was designed using the ECS calculation program.

The Eurotec team supports your construction project.

We assist you with advice during planning and project implementation. Detailed measurements can be carried out with the help of the ECS design software, providing all the calculational evidence and verifiable documents.

In order to keep pace with the ever-increasing importance of TCC, Eurotec is investing in the continuous development of its products and innovative solutions.
