Discover our connectors for solid wood construction
Wood construction is experiencing a sustained upturn in the industry, particularly due to the increasing use of cross-laminated timber (CLT). This popular building material combines environmental responsibility with high load-bearing capacity, dimensional accuracy and architectural flexibility. Thanks to its excellent static and structural properties, CLT is particularly popular in multi-storey residential and commercial construction and is therefore considered an innovative technology for sustainable building in the future.
For planners, engineers and contractors, the growing use of cross-laminated timber means new and ever-increasing demands on connection technology, fastening solutions and assembly processes. At Eurotec, we support this development with a broad product range that is specially tailored to the needs of modern timber construction. Through practical product innovations, sound technical advice and the continuous development of our systems, we create safe and efficient solutions for timber construction.
Shear and tension connectors play a central role in timber construction, ensuring the safe transfer of forces between individual components. Even under high loads or in complex structures, they ensure that tensile, compressive and shear forces are reliably dissipated and that the connections remain permanently stable. They thus form the basis for load-bearing, durable and easy-to-assemble timber structures.

The following products from our range fall into this category:
Tension rods with pressure plates
Tension rods 340/440/540/620 and pressure plates 340/440/540/620
Our tension rods offer flexible solutions for different load requirements in timber construction. In combination with the appropriate pressure plate, they ensure optimum force transmission.
The tension rods 340, 440 and 540 are each combined with the pressure plate 340/440/540. They are used for anchoring the base points of timber elements in timber, steel or concrete substrates.
The 620 tension rod, on the other hand, must only be used in combination with the pressure plate for tension rods 620, as both components are specifically designed to work together and only achieve their full load-bearing capacity in this way.
Tension rod HighLoad and Simply tie bar
Made from galvanised S355 structural steel with a material thickness of 3 mm, the HighLoad tension rod impresses with its high robustness and precision. The system shows its strengths particularly for high loads in CLT construction, but is also suitable for connections in concrete and steel. In combination with the HighLoad pressure plate, the tie rod develops its full performance and creates a tested, secure force transmission.
The compact version, the Simply tie bar, is suitable for simple and not particularly time-consuming connections.
Tension straps
The tension straps HH60/HH70 and HB60/HB70 are designed for modern timber construction and are used to absorb tensile and shear forces. While the HH variants are used in timber frame and solid timber construction, the HB tension straps are specifically designed for connections to concrete or steel. Screw connections at 45° and 90° angles achieve a force-fit connection. Both systems impress with their high load-bearing capacity and minimal installation effort.
HighLoad tension straps were designed for particularly high loads in wood-to-wood connections. These are mainly used in multi-storey CLT construction, where floor slabs with a thickness of up to 240 mm are used and tensile loads of up to 200 kN are achieved.
Shearing plates and shearing angles
Shearing plate
Flat connectors in the form of shearing plates can be used to absorb shear forces in timber frame and solid timber construction. Their high rigidity enables a precise, dimensionally stable connection between timber-timber or timber-concrete components. The hole pattern allows the plates to be attached precisely and securely to the corresponding component to ensure high shear load-bearing capacity.
Shearing angle with pressure plate
The shearing agnle has proven itself as a reliable connecting element for absorbing shear forces in timber frame and solid wood construction. When anchored in concrete, the shear bracket must be combined with the pressure plate so that the forces occurring are optimally transferred to the wood and the fatigue strength of the connection is increased. The special arrangement of the holes enables a force-fit connection using screws and nails.
The HH flat shearing angle for wood-to-wood connections and the HB flat shearing angle for wood-to-concrete connections are also flexible brackets for various loads in timber construction. Here too, the HB flat shearing angle may only be used in conjunction with the corresponding pressure plate.
System angles and angle connectors
CLT system angles and CLT inside corners
CLT system angles and CLT inside corners have been specially developed for modular CLT construction and facilitate secure corner and junction assembly and angle connections with cross-laminated timber. The robust construction and precise perforation ensure reliable force transmission, while the simple handling offers a quick and easy-to-install solution.
Angle brackets with rib
The angle brackets with reinforcement ribs can be used for connections such as wood to masonry, wood to concrete or wood to wood. The reinforcement rib offers high stability and force transmission.
